Overview
Dave is the titular protagonist and the player character of Dave the Diver. He is a scuba diver who is tasked to capture fish during the day and work at a sushi restaurant during the evening.
Appearances
Cobra calling Dave in the intro cutscene. The first appearance of the protagonist is in the first cutscene while starting a new game. Dave is sunbathing on a beach as he gets a call from his acquaintance Cobra, inviting Dave for sushi and told to hurry. Dave, a big fan of food, immediately ends his vacation and flies over to the Blue Hole. Only to find out that he is supposed to be the one to source the ingredients himself, taking more and more responsibilities to run Cobra's investments in the area. Over time Dave not only has to help in the sourcing of ingredients but also with managing the busy night time service at Bancho Sushi. This become a re-occurring issue as Cobra has hired out his services as a diver to multiple characters including Bancho the head chef of Bancho Sushi, Dr. Bacon, the local archeologist researching Sea People, and Udo, a reporter for the Weekly Fish magazine without his knowledge or consent.

* Dave's name sounds similar to "broken toilet lid" in the language of the Sea People. * He is featured in the game's desktop icon. * Dave makes an appearance in Balatro as a Queen of Diamonds face card, as part of that game's Friends of Jimbo update. * Dave appears as a recurring customer on Potion Craft. * Dave appears as a skin on Fortnite, available to players who bought Dave the Diver on the Epic Games Store.
